Cool Water Facts about Lena River

The river Lena is the 10th longest in the world. The river flows 2,734 miles, (4,400 square km). The area Of the river's drainage basin is about 961,000 square miles, (2,490,000 square km). During the high-water period the water level in the upper and middle courses rises by an average of 30 to 50 feet, in the upper course rises by 60 feet. The river discharges about 12 million tons of suspended sediment. The river also discharges 41 million tons of dissolved matter in the sea each year. There are more than 100 species of animals found.
