Bird 4





The Red-Tailed Hawk is about 19-23 inches long, it weighs about 2.5 pounds , and has a wingspan of 4 to 4.5 feet. The feathers varies a bit, but is generally brown to gray brown with pale markings, and with a white chest. The tail feathers are red-brown and square-cut.  It eats rodents (like mice, muskrats, and squirrels), opossums, moles, weasels. The other animals are reptiles (like snakes), and amphibians, and other birds (like pigeons, quail, crows, ducks, and woodpeckers). The young are called chicks. This bird is hunted by a falconer.

Bird 3






These birds have two forms (morphs). They have a common white form and a rarer blue form. The white form is normally all white except for black wing tips. The blue form has a white head and upper neck with a dark blue-gray body. They are from 25 to 30 inches long. Immature snow goose are dirty white or brownish. They eat aquatic plants, grains, roots, Leaves of grasses, sedges, willows and other plants. They are the prey of arctic foxes and wolves, gulls, jaegers, ravens, gyrfalcons, and eagles. They weigh 4.5 to 6.0 pounds. Their wingspan is 53 from 65 inches. Their young are called goslings.

Bird 2






The great horned owl is the largest owl in North America. These owls are about 18 to 25 inches long. It's wingspan is about 52 to 55 inches. Its weight is about 3 pounds. Their feathers are gray to brown to buff to black. They have a patch of white on their chest. Their eyes are yellow with round black pupils. These birds feed upon small mammals(like rabbits, skunks, woodchucks, mice, rats, and squirrels), birds such as ducks, quail, and geese. They also eat fish. Their young are called owlets.

The Lynx has powerful jaws and Long sharp pointed teeth. It has sharp, retractable claws, Big ears, and a spotted fur coat. They have brown circular eyes. They have dark, Beard-like side whiskers. Some lynxs have tufts of hair on their ears. They are about 2 to 4 feet long. They have a stubby tail about 4 to 7 inches long. The lynxes feed upon small mammals (like rabbits, hares, rodents, foxes, weasels, small deers), birds, and eggs. Their young are called kittens. They are preyed upon by humans for their fur.

Mammal 3




This is the short-tailed weasel. Though it is also known as Ermine or stoat. They eat up to 40 percent of their own body weight each day. These weasels are preyed upon by owls and martens. They Eat small mammals such as Mice, rabbits, and squirrels. they also eat insects, berries, and birds. They weigh about 5 to 13 ounces. They Can range up to 7-13 inches long. Their tail can be 5 inches long. in spring their fur is a chocolate brown with a white underbelly with a black tip tail. In the winter their fur is pure snow white. It has short legs and a long body. their young are called kits.

Mammal 2





The red fox is very clever it has long ears, a long, white-tipped, bushy tail.  They have little black legs. They have a rusty color to the fur.  It lives in many different habitats. A fox can live up to 13 years. A male fox is called a reynard. A female fox is called a vixen. A baby fox is called a kit. A group of foxes are called a skulk or a leash. Most foxes hunt alone. They only hunt at night. They grow up to be about 2 1/2 feet long and 15 to 16 inches tall. They feed upon rabbits and hares. They are killed by farmers.

The Long-Eared Owl
This picture is of the long-eared owl. They are also known as cat owls. This bird is a predator. It has good ears for hunting. It also uses nests that are abandoned by other birds. Despite the name this owl does not have long ears rather it has long feathers. This bird has yellow eyes, have black bills, and have dark colored throats. It is about 35cm long and About 13 inches around. they hunt mice and small birds. Though they feed mostly on voles and small rodents. Their young are called chicks. Their wingspan is about 37 to 40 inches long.
